During first pregnancy there is a lot to learn and there are alot of women on this planet that will give advice from their own experiences (not always positive, either!) Your body will be going through a lot of changes, mentally and physically. To help you to deal with the process, here are some suggestions that may help.

Find a maternity doctor that you feel comfortable in asking questions and expressing any concerns. They will provide you with information regarding your pregnancy stages and what the following months will require ultrasounds and blood tests.

With your first pregnancy, why not console in the goodness of your close friends who have had children? Maybe create a list of what you will need for the nursery baby items, nappies, clothing, etc. You may be handed down a lot of these items from other mothers who do not require them anymore. Just be cautious in using some second hand items car seat, do you know it's origins? Has it been in an accident? Does it comply with safety standards? With safety items like this, it is recommended buying brand new for piece of mind of one's little life.

Budgeting is always difficult with a baby on the way. If possible, have the nursery completed and items necessary for the first month or so, on hand, ready to go. In some cases the family income decreases by one full time wage, so prepare and try and save as much as possible. It might be a good idea to start living on your partner's sole wage before you have little bubs, so it isn't a huge transition when he/she arrives.

Antenatal classes are an effective way to prepare for the birth of your baby. There are also many books, internet sites and local groups to help you with your pregnancy questions. If you are finding it difficult to console your inner thoughts to others, maybe keep a diary of your pregnancy journey. This will be one treasured, keep sake to look back on in later life.

First pregnancy, no matter what the circumstances, is a life altering experience. Your belly will grow, you will blossom and the transition from female to motherhood, slowly begins. The joy from visually watching your baby's movements in an ultrasound to the physical movements felt from within. The anticipation as you approach your due date, wandering if little bubs will look like you? Preparing for a new life, as you will soon witness their first breath of life. Pregnancy is a blessing, embrace it.
