How To Get More Sleep During Pregnancy

Many women think that is impossible to get more sleep during pregnancy. There are quite a few reasons that pregnant women have trouble sleeping at night. Depending on how far along in the pregnancy she is, it could have to do with back pain, frequent urination, or even a stuffed up nose. Pregnant women should know that there are a couple of things that you can do to help you get more sleep.

If you are having trouble sleeping due to back or hip pain or just being uncomfortable, try adding more pillows to your bed. You can also check out body pillows that help support your stomach and back better than just laying on a flat bed. There are body pillows that are made especially for pregnant women that are not that expensive and are really worth the money to get comfortable and get your sleep at night. If you don't want to buy a body pillow, then just try some extra pillows in between your legs and propping you up more to support your body more.

Make sure that you are eating a healthy diet and not eating too late at night. Many women suffer from heartburn when they are pregnant which can inhibit their sleep at night. Try to not eat late at night if you get heartburn. This also goes for drinking as well. If you find that you are getting up late at night to go to the bathroom every hour, then stop drinking anything 2-3 hours before bedtime. Also, eating a healthy diet that is rich in vitamins and nutrients also helps you get more sleep during pregnancy. If you do have to have a snack at night, try one that is high in carbohydrates as they help you to fall asleep easier, rather than ones that are high in protein or sugar.

Regular exercise can also help pregnant women get more sleep. There are many women who stop exercising when they get pregnant, but there are so many benefits to keeping up with light exercising while pregnant. The healthier your body is, the better you are able to sleep. It has been shown that exercise approximately 5-6 hours before bedtime helps you drift off to sleep quicker and get the restful sleep that you need.

Try to relax. This may sound easier that it actually is, but trying out different relaxation methods will actually help you fall asleep much easier. Try things such as meditation or yoga before bed. Other things like deep breathing and even counting help to relax your mind, which helps you fall asleep. If you find that you stress out about pregnancy or other things before bed, try reading a good book or magazine right before bed to take your mind off of the stressful things in your life.

Most pregnant women go throughout their entire pregnancy sleep deprived, which is not healthy for them. Instead, employ some of the quick tips discussed to help you get more sleep during pregnancy.

Thank you! Your gender predictor was 100% right.

I wanted to take a moment to tell you that your gender predictor was right. I am having my first baby boy due in May. I already have two little girls and this is my third pregnancy in 3.5 years. I ordered the results from Fortune Baby almost immediately after missing my cycle in September 2006. When the results said I would be having a boy I was so skeptical I was tempted to call and request a refund. I am so glad I came across your site and I have told all my expectant friends about your service. Thank you so much for being the first to tell me the best news I've heard all year.

Yes you guys were right!! It was a girl and I thought it was a boy from the start.
