Pregnancy Trimester

The characteristics and symptoms of the three trimesters of pregnancy may vary from woman to woman. However, it is worthwhile to be aware of the general trends occurring in each.

First pregnancy trimester

During the first six weeks, you may not feel any different. In fact, you probably will not know for sure until you miss your period. Then you may feel nauseous and fatigued. During the seventh week, the baby's development begins. He or she will begin growing eyes, ears, nose, heart and other organs. By the eighth week, you will be able to hear the baby's heart by ultrasound.

Second pregnancy trimester

The second trimester lasts from the fourteenth to the twenty-sixth week and is marked by rapid growth of the fetus. The baby's movement occurs during the second trimester at the fourteenth week. As you enter the second trimester, constipation and heartburn affect your body.

Third pregnancy trimester

During the third trimester, you will probably see your doctor more often as it is a time of rapid growth. However, the time is soon arriving so be prepared. Week 27 and 28 will bring further development for the baby's brain and lungs. Your own body will experience breathlessness as the baby grows and your abdomen pushes into your lungs. At this time, the baby will also be able to hear sounds from within the womb.
