When choosing your preconception diet, obviously don't think of only yourself and what you like or don't like. Remember you are going to need nutrients in your system before, during and after your child's birth. I recommend looking at your own as well as your family's health issues and talking with your doctor to see what you can eat to get your body healthier and ready to do the up taking of carrying a baby in your belly. Picking a preconception diet is a key to avoiding overeating and extra pounds that may be unhealthy to the new life you are creating. If you have the time or even if you didn't, figure out a way to start exercising and picking better foods to feed your system. If you don't like carrots, eat them anyways....Having good health before pregnancy is a key factor in having a healthier pregnancy and baby.

Take the time to write down some key factors of your new Preconception diet and follow them the best that you can.

• make sure to have a check up before you get pregnant so you can talk with your doctor and get some more info.
• make sure to know your family history of health issues so you can discuss them with your new doctor.
• make sure to take your Folic acid vitamins daily as well. This helps with preventing serious types of birth defects.
• If taking medications make sure they are OK to be using while in the process of trying to get pregnant.
• make sure to do your own research and figure out what is best for your body type as well.

Your new preconception diet should also help you during pregnancy as well so you stay healthier and help you to not over eat. Remember just because your going to be eating for 2 doesn't mean you can eat everything!

So make your list and start living a healthier life for you and your future baby. After all you're bringing it in to this world. The least we can do as mommies is to get there new home (your belly) as ready as possible with lots of nutrients and strong muscle tissue so they know they are safe and sound when they are using your tummy as a juggle gym. So if you have the time I would very much advise you to take the time to prepare your body for this amazing change it will be going through. Whether it is your first or fifth baby, take the extra time to get a little healthier by eating correctly and using your preconception diet as best as you can. Take a walk to get your lunch with a friend. Start a new hobby or take up a class. Many of them are free now. Here is to you and your new adventure. Stay healthy and strong.
